Week One - Wednesday
2nd Reading
1 Thessalonians 3:12—4:2
Brothers and sisters:
May the Lord make you increase and abound in love
for one another and for all,
just as we have for you,
so as to strengthen your hearts,
to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father
at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Amen.
Finally, brothers and sisters,
we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that,
as you received from us
how you should conduct yourselves to please God
and as you are conducting yourselves
you do so even more.
For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
Labora / Work
Each of you may be making a focused effort to grow in holiness, but are you making that same effort as a couple. Today’s reading asks that “you increase and abound in love for one another and for all.” Consider this as a couple. Are you growing in your marital love and also sharing that love with others? There’s an old adage that says, “you can’t give what you don’t have.” If, as a couple, you are not growing in holiness and happiness, how can you share with your children, family, and friends? Today discuss what is one way together as a couple that you can grow in holiness. Is it to pray together daily, attend Mass together once during the week, pray night prayer together before you retire for the day, etc. Decide on that one thing that you can do as a couple to grow in your marital faith as together you work to please God.
