Week Two - Wednesday
Ora / Pray
2nd Reading
Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11
Brothers and sisters:
I pray always with joy in my every prayer for all of you,
because of your partnership for the gospel
from the first day until now.
I am confident of this,
that the one who began a good work in you
will continue to complete it
until the day of Christ Jesus.
God is my witness,
how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
And this is my prayer:
that your love may increase ever more and more
in knowledge and every kind of perception,
to discern what is of value,
so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness
that comes through Jesus Christ
for the glory and praise of God.
Labora / Work
In the homily given at a Church where we were visiting this past weekend, the priest spoke about discerning what is valuable for our lives, our marriage, and our salvation.
How we spend our time either leads us to Christ (and a happier marriage) or leads us away. Today choose one thing that you do on a regular basis that is really of no value to your life, your marriage and family, nor your salvation. Forego doing that one thing today and offer it up for the sanctification of your spouse and your marriage. Then tomorrow ask yourself if you really need to return to that one thing that is of no value. Consider instead replacing that one thing with something that is of value to your life, your marriage, and/or your salvation.
