A Merrier Marriage for Christmas!

Week Two - Thursday

The Gospel

Luke 3:1-6

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,

when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea,

and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee,

and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region

of Ituraea and Trachonitis,

and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,

during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas,

the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the desert.

John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan,

proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:

A voice of one crying out in the desert:

“Prepare the way of the Lord,

make straight his paths.

Every valley shall be filled

and every mountain and hill shall be made low.

The winding roads shall be made straight,

and the rough ways made smooth,

and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

Labora / Work

Is there one thing that is still causing a wall between you and your spouse, that one thing that just won’t go away? Is it something that really hurt when it happened, causing a deep wound and it just won’t heal? It’s time to do the one thing that will bring healing; repent and ask forgiveness. Few issues are completely one-sided. If both husband and wife really look at the issue, most will find they both had something to do with it. As a couple, just say you’re sorry and ask each other for forgiveness. It will bring healing and peace in your marriage, and John the Baptist has called you to it saying “Prepare the way of the Lord!” As we approach the birth of Christ, prepare His way by bringing down the wall and letting His love and forgiveness into your hearts. It can only make you love each other more as you share the love of the Christ Child.
